Vincent Gerrard has designed a unique approach to the auditioning process. He teaches his students the importance of giving to the industry and not just taking from it. His techniques are very specific and simple to apply to the audition process. Vincent prides himself in focusing on the moments before the actor starts to "act" and allows the individual artist to recognize their behavior and the "stuff" they bring into the room. Some of us are aware that we are being decided upon before we even open our mouths.
In order to transform the energy in the room, you must be aware of where the energy is and how to transform it. Vincent uses terms such as energy, blocked or stuck energy, and movement of energy, in addition to very few acting terms. With some simple redirection of energy the work goes from night to day in seconds.
Casting Director Suzanne Ryan of Law & Order inspired this class. After booking his last episode of Law & Order, Vincent had gone in to thank Suzanne and after talking with her for a length of time she advised him to teach what he does "In The Room".
Vincent also has the support of many other casting directors as well as directors, artistic directors, producers, studio administration, managers, agents and writers. Many have agreed to come in to see the talent in his classes upon the third and fifth week of the class. His intention is to create a place where you can put your techniques to work and meet and create great relationships within the industry on all levels. The classes are also designed so the actor can approach agents with a list of people who are familiar with their work. This cuts so much time off the agents or managers need to develop relationships for you.

Getting to know a lot of the actors, dancers, and singers on Broadway, Vincent is amazed at how the majority of our greatest talents on Broadway are not represented and have not been seen by the primetime casting offices or by any casting director for that matter.
