Who is Vincent Gerrard?

Vincent

Vincent Gerrard received his first training as an actor at the age of sixteen, at The Whole Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey. There he served as Artistic Assistant to Olympia Dukakis and Casting Director, Apollo Dukakis

In 1980, he left The Whole Theatre and went to The Neighborhood Playhouse and was trained by the late Sanford Meisner and Phillip Gushee. After his first year he chose to study his second year privately with Philip Gushee. Upon completion he went to work in retail for a year. He needed the rest

While working he received a phone call on the job stating that Joanne Woodward needed an ASM for a show she was directing. Needless to say he quit and ran to the theatre. After the show closed the celebration dinner was at a restaurant on the East Side. That is where Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman asked Vincent to join the Company as an actor. From that moment on it was a five-year commitment to The Actor's Group of New York as an actor and Script Coordinator for the company while doing personal script coverage for The Newman's. OH!! And lots of popcorn and salad dressing!!!

In 1986, the Actor's Group of New York folded so the husband and wife team could focus on their film The Glass Menagerie. This left Vincent, Allison Janney, Dylan McDermott, and many others with incredible knowledge of the business and the changes that were taking place. Their advice, wisdom and humanitarianism marked the experiences of those years as the most invaluable lessons of Vincent's life and career.

After this time he went on from show to show building his resume and teaching and waiting tables in between, for five years. In 1991 he booked a tour that brought his from New York to LA. Where he stayed for five years. There he entered Howard Fines Master Class. Just when he thought he experienced the best, along came Howard. Mr. Fine brought Vincent's work from A to Z. The man was a genius and I recommend him to anyone. He made the process fun and knew a person's potential in seconds. While in Mr. Fine's Master Class, Vincent began coaching people privately and worked in television. After the five years were over, Vincent had a longing for New York and the Theatre and retreated back East.

Vincent has been residing in New York since 1996 and has worked as a writer, casting director, manager and Broadway Associate Producer. Since 2003 Vincent has been focusing on his acting, writing and teaching. Being he has lost as much hair as he is going to loose, he has finally grown into his type.
